PPCM is seen throughout the world but the incidence of PPCM in Haiti is 1 in 350-400 births and the mortality rate up to 2 years post partum is estimated to be 15.3% from a sample of 98.

This presentaiton questions, the role of zinc deficiency in the pathogenesis of PPCM in Haiti, where the incidence of PPCM is the highest in the world. It is estimated that one third of Haiti people are zinc deficient.
