PPCM Survivor by Gods Grace

2 min read

I am a 34 year old married woman with 2 beautiful young girls and a handsome little boy....all ages 8, 4 & 1.

In January of 2014 I had my 3rd child, a son. I have had Endometriosis since I was in High School and becoming pregnant was difficult for me. But God gave me 3 miracle babies. In January of 2014 my husband and I had decided that with all the pain I was having being caused by the Endometriosis, that I would have a partial hysterectomy. In March of 2014 I went into the hospital for my surgery....all I remember is being on a table coming out from under the anesthesia with doctors all around me, an oxygen mask on all the while coughing up A LOT of fluid! I could hear all the Drs talking but couldn't make out what was really being said. I was transported to I.C.U and there I remained for 4 days with i.v's, a heart moniter, blood pressure cuff, oxygen machine, catheter and pic line. When I finally came around enougg to know what was going on, my family had came into the room to see me and pray. Drs came in later that night and told me that I had went into Cardiac arrest, my bp dropped to the low 70's while in surgery and fluid started gathering around my heart and in my lungs (which explained why I was coughing up fluid). They said I was a miracle and that I should have died. My EF (ejection fraction) was 15%!!

It was a complete wakeup call for me...I had went into the hospital for Outpatient Surgery to almost dying and being in the hospital for 7 days. After 4 days in I.C.U I was moved to Telemetry for 3 days, I hadn't seen my children at all at this time, (they allowed my 8 yr old to come see me once). I was broken and my heart hurt for my babies.

After 7 days in the hospital I was able to go home! Praise God. I know without a doubt that I am here and that I am able to continue loving, spoiling and kissing/hugging my babies because God said it wasn't my time. I had no idea I was sick...I thought it was regular pregnancy symptoms. If you feel like you are having symptoms of PPCM, I encourage you to get checked ASAP! My Drs told me that most woman die at home of Cardiac Arrest amd I was one of the lucky ones,
